St. Andrew’s School 1952

The school Tower. It was the prominent landmark of the school. This pink building was built in 1940 and still stands to this day. Although not used as I knew it, a new modern building is built adjacent to this – which continues to produce Saints.

St. Andrew’s School Quadrangle

  • National Archives of Singapore

IThe Quadrangle separates the Primary from the Secondary School. Every morning the entire school gathers facing the Quad to sing the National Anthem, the School Hymn and the School Song. The school is steeped in tradition since its founding in 1862. One such tradition happens at the start of every year. Graduating Primary Six students line up on the Primary side and run across to the Secondary side to signify the beginning of their life in Secondary school.

This picture taken in much happier times (Sept. 2003). Every time I see it, my heart longs so much for that moment.

The smiles and the joy in the faces cannot be minimized. Considering what it took to get here.

Daughter’s Wedding at the Laliamman Temple

This event could not be officially considered a wedding because the actual wedding was held few days prior in Ontario, Canada. We all gathered in this Temple in Singapore for a blessing ceremony so that the family (who didn’t or couldn’t make it to Ontario) could in some way participate in the joy of the union. Besides, for myself, it was my way of thanksgiving to my God.
